Privacy
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics and no third-party scripts. Videos are embedded from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode, which contacts Google — in the United States — only when you press play. The pages are served by Cloudflare, also in the United States, which handles connection data only as needed to deliver them and keeps it briefly.
The only personal data I hold are the email addresses of people who asked to hear from me, kept because they asked and for that alone until they ask me to stop, and whatever is written in the messages people send me, kept as long as the correspondence is of any use and no longer.
The letters are sent from my own mailbox to a list I keep myself: an address is added only when its owner writes to ask — or, for people I have taught or worked with, because of that relationship — and removed as soon as they reply “stop” or write to say so. No newsletter service is involved, and nothing records whether a letter was opened or a link followed.
Transfers to the United States rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, under which Cloudflare and Google are certified.

Accessibility
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. It is a personal site, not bound by any legal obligation: the commitment is voluntary.
It was last checked on 21 September 2026, as a self-assessment: automated tests on every page (desktop, mobile and dark mode), keyboard-only navigation, reflow at 320 pixels and with increased text spacing, and a full reading with VoiceOver in Safari on macOS.
Known limitations:
- Many of the PDF facsimiles of printed articles and catalogues are images of the page, with no text layer, so a screen reader cannot read them. Every such link says so (“facsimile, no text”), and where the original is online, a link to it is given alongside.
- Videos play in YouTube’s own player, whose controls I cannot change. A “Skip the video” link lets you move past it.
